When Francesco was just 17 and in crisis, he tragically took his own life using an unsecured firearm. His story is not an isolated case. It is a powerful and painful reminder of why secure gun storage is essential in protecting vulnerable young people.

Why Safe Gun Storage Matters
Gun violence remains the leading cause of death for children in New York, even as the state continues to lead on many safety measures. While progress has been made, there is still a critical gap when it comes to how firearms are stored in the home.
Unsecured guns put children and teenagers at serious risk, particularly during moments of emotional distress or crisis. Requiring all gun owners to safely lock and secure firearms is a simple but life-saving step.
